Lecture/DiscussionLiving Shin Buddhism - Mind the Gap Hosted by Dr. Kenji Akahoshi Our Tuesday evening program is intended to provide an opportunity to relate the Shin Buddhist Dharma on a personal level. Our own Rev. Gerald Sakamoto will start off our new season on September 22. On the 4th Tuesday of each month, we host a speaker who will share how the dharma impacts our lives. Following each talk, attendees will be able to pose questions that help clarify the Dharma. On the 2nd Tuesday of each month, our group discussion allows attendees to share their views and ask questions on the relevance of Shin principles into our daily life. There will also be a short, progressive lesson on the basics of the Shin doctrine. October will focus on basic Buddhism. November will focus on the unique Shin perspective (thanksgiving). December will discuss what "awakening" means in the hectic holiday season. The intent of this format, is to provide an opportunity for anyone to address personal questions and to clarify their understanding of Shin teachings, which can lead to a life of harmony and joy. Come join our congenial group, as we join the Nembutsu journey of living Shin Buddhism. For questions and further details, contact the Betsuin office at (408) 293-9292 2009 Schedule (will continue into 2010 after holiday break)
As a sample of our speakers, here is a recent presentation given by Reverend David Matsumoto from February 2007 (included here with his permission).
