Retreat

HUMAN NATURE – BUDDHA NATURE

RESOLVING PRESENT LIFE ISSUES THROUGH TRADITIONAL SHIN WISDOM

WHAT: Although we live in a world of wealth and convenience unmatched in human history, we find ourselves threatened by global and domestic insecurities. Due to their reliance on a Shin perspective on life, Shin followers have been able to overcome unimaginable adversity. Without rancor, they have persevered and enjoyed a rich and grateful life, regardless of their material circumstance. This spiritual perspective is accessible to all, regardless of our cultural heritage.

HOW: A weekend retreat to learn and apply Shin Buddhist principles to our contemporary way of life. Introspection, discussion, and insightful activities will bring alive the relevancy and depth of Shin wisdom. In a supportive, light-hearted environment, we move from a conceptual understanding to a personal experience of Buddha nature.

WHEN: July 27-29, 2007 Friday evening to Sunday noon

WHERE: The Quaker Center: a rustic, relaxing, redwood retreat site near Ben Lomond, in the Santa Cruz mountains.

WHY: This retreat experience can clarify misunderstood Buddhist concepts. An inner shift, in our perspective of our life’s condition, can compel us to incorporate Buddhist wisdom into daily habits that empower a balanced personal life. Human nature inspired by Buddha nature produces inner peace and community harmony.

COST: $150 Room, meals, tuition

FACILITATOR: Dr. Kenji Akahoshi is a health professional with a background in Buddhism, transpersonal psychology, wilderness vision quests, and personal growth disciplines.
