President's Message

Like for many of you, these are some of my busiest months of the year. With my job being my number one priority, I have to put things aside whenever my manager wants me to make last-minute changes to my weekly schedule. Learning to adjust and change is what is required in this crazy world that we live in and being busy keeps me off of my sofa and from watching mindless reality shows.

This is the time of the year that I ask temple members to consider joining the Betsuin Board of Directors and try to convince the present Board members to continue on for another term. Every member of the present Board has busy lives, yet each finds the time to juggle work, family and additional volunteer work. It would be easy to find new Board members if it were a paying job, but each year my task gets more difficult because unfortunately it is not. I have to admit that all of the present Board members are “Super Volunteers” yet many did not start out that way. There have been hundreds of temple members who have served on the Betsuin Board in the past and in order to stay in business we will need hundreds more. If you would like to get more involved in the Betsuin activities and decision-making please consider becoming a Board Member. You can contact the Betsuin office for further information.

On another note, we are hosting this year’s CD Nembutsu Family Conference on November 22. The conference will be at the Betsuin and I hope that you will consider attending.

In Gassho,
Steven Ichinaga
